ITA - One of the main institutions of higher education and research center in Brazil under the Command of the Brazilian Air Force. Following the same concept, it was created the Centro de Competência em Manufatura - CCM , in January 2004, which, during its first three years, has already gathered  a total of 16 million reais in  investments, making real its objective of becoming a public institution with private money investments.

The CCM also counts with the technological aid of the Associação de Inteligência em Manufatura - AIM - an association of 11 companies that invests the state of art of their technology in the CCM. They are: Balzers, Blaser, Swisslube, Hermle, Prototyp, Sandivik Coromant, Siemens, Titex, UGS, Villares Metals, Mitutoyo and Sisgraph.
